An international and multidisciplinary network that brings together research, healthcare, and innovation to make dementia prevention more practical and effective in real-world settings.
Who we are
TEIDe brings together partners from different fields and countries, with the aim of turning scientific evidence on the role of physical exercise into practical tools for the prevention of cognitive decline and dementia.
The network spans academia, primary healthcare, technology and patient advocacy, combining expertise that is needed across the full pathway from dementia-risk prediction and exercise science to data analysis, stakeholder involvement and clinical implementation.
The Consortium
TEIDe brings together nine partners across Europe and North America, with institutions from Spain, Norway, Germany, Italy, Slovakia, Romania, the United States and Canada. This international dimension enhances the project’s scientific robustness and its capacity to deliver impactful, scalable, and transferable solutions.
International collaborations: Canada and the United States
Scientific coordination of the project: Spain
Partner countries: Germany, Italy, Norway, Romania, Slovakia
The partners
The TEIDe Consortium brings together organizations with complementary roles and expertise. From research to healthcare, from innovation to dissemination, each partner contributes to building a more personalized and applicable approach to prevention.
The partners
The TEIDe Consortium brings together organizations with complementary roles and expertise. Each institution has a defined role in TEIDe. The profiles below distinguish funded consortium partners from non-funded collaborators and identify their main Work Package responsibilities.

Exercise science, ageing neuroscience, cognition, neuroimaging, observational and experimental studies
Role & main contribution
Scientific coordinator of TEIDe. IBS leads scientific and operational coordination, monitors progress and supports harmonisation of variables across cohorts and trials. It also contributes statistical and scientific expertise to data-management and analysis activities.
Multidisciplinary expertise
TEIDe is deliberately interdisciplinary. Epidemiology and predictive medicine support the analysis of large cohorts and dementia-risk modelling. Exercise science and physiology allow the Consortium to compare different exercise modes, doses and intensities. Neuroscience and neuroimaging provide insight into brain structure, function and neuroplasticity. Biomarker expertise adds cellular and molecular measures, including markers relevant to Alzheimer’s disease. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, data management and cybersecurity support harmonisation, secure infrastructure and complex analyses. Primary healthcare expertise ensures that the resulting tools are tested in real clinical workflows. Patient and Public Involvement (PPI), advocacy, communication and dissemination connect the research with people affected by dementia, caregivers, professionals, policymakers and the wider public.
PPI in the Consortium
Alzheimer Europe also plays an important advisory role. It contributed to the co-production of the TEIDe PPI plan and involves its working groups of people with dementia and carers in dedicated activities and meetings.
Together, Federazione Alzheimer Italia and Alzheimer Europe help ensure that scientific and clinical decisions remain connected to the needs, experiences and priorities of the people TEIDe ultimately aims to support.
Patient and Public Involvement within TEIDe is led by Fondazione Alzheimer Italia (FAI) and overseen by the TEIDe PPI Committee, which brings together project members, patient representatives and external expertise to support meaningful involvement throughout the project.
Alzheimer Europe contributes in an advisory role, building on its involvement in the co-development of the PPI plan and connecting TEIDe with perspectives from the wider European dementia community.
A shared vision
